Experts Convene to Debate and Discuss Updates in GI Cancer Care Research
At the virtual 2020 Great Debates and Updates in Gastrointestinal (GI) Malignancies meeting, taking place August 14-15, oncologists and other healthcare providers in the oncology space will discuss the latest advancements in GI cancer care research and debate on important topics ranging from the use of biomarkers to direct adjuvant therapy to optimal therapy durations.
Major themes of the 2-day virtual experience include:
- targeted approaches in gastric cancers and other GI malignancies;
- debates on the optimal treatment of colorectal cancers (CRCs);
- novel agents in hepatobiliary cancers and NETs;
- and emerging concepts and therapies in gastrointestinal cancer.
The meeting is accredited for 16.25 continuing medical education credits.

- David Ilson, MD, PhD, will provide updates on immunotherapy trials in gastroesophageal cancer
- Howard S. Hochster, MD, will talk about the use of biosimilars in treating CRC
- Julio Garcia-Aguilar, MD, PhD, will present on the nonoperative management of rectal cancer
- In 1 of 10 informative debates, Axel Grothey, MD, and Andrea Cercek, MD, will argue in favor of EGFR versus VEGF therapy, respectively, for the first-line treatment of left-sided RAS/BRAF wild-type CRC
