Use of a Structured, Individualized Exercise Program for Patients With Metastatic Breast Cancer

Featuring Anouk Hiensch, PhD

Anouk Hiensch, PhD, University Medical Center Utrecht, Netherlands, discussed results from the large, multinational PREFERABLE-EFFECT study which demonstrated that a structured, individualized exercise intervention offered to patients with metastatic breast cancer during palliative treatment decreased fatigue and improved health-related quality of life.

Dr Hiensch stated, “this is a really important thing for these patients with metastatic breast cancer in general, so we are really excited about these results and hope that this will be implemented in the exercise guidelines that are currently out there.”

These results were first presented at the 2023 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
