Nanofat and Platelet-rich Plasma Injections as Therapeutics for Acne Scarring
Researchers observed the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and nanofat injections as a possible therapeutic approach for the treatment of acne scarring, according to a study published in the Journal of Stomatology Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The researchers aimed to find a new potential therapy using aesthetic filling for managing acne scars. In this study, the PRP and nanofat mixture was injected into the pathological dermis. There was an improvement in skin elasticity and scar reduction, as well as a reversal of the inflammation process after a 1-year follow-up.
“PRP and nanofat could represent a new and promising therapeutic approach in the treatment of the inflammatory scarring process in severe acne,” the study authors concluded.
