Dave Lamon Promoted to President of Horton Emergency Vehicles

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Dave Lamon has been promoted president of Horton Emergency Vehicles. Horton, based in Grove City, Ohio, has been the ambulance manufacturing leader in quality, engineering and safety since 1968.

Horton is a member of Allied Specialty Vehicles (ASV), the largest manufacturer of ambulances in North America. "Dave Lamon is not only known as the face of Horton, but through his involvement in ambulance manufacturing and sales for decades, he is, for many, the face of the ambulance industry," said Allied Specialty Vehicles President and CEO Randall Swift.

Lamon, long a nationally recognized expert in ambulance safety, was instrumental in developing many Horton innovations, including the Horton Occupant Protection System (HOPS). HOPS protects EMTs with a combination of two types of air bags, multi-density cushions and three point harnesses in a body developed over the past 30 years with direct impact and Hygee sled testing. He joined the Horton sales and marketing department in 1971 and was most recently the vice president of sales and marketing. He is a past president of the Ambulance Manufacturer's Division of the National Truck, Body and Equipment Association and a member of the technical committee for the ambulance specification of the National Fire Protection Association.

"This is really a fantastic time in the history of Horton," Lamon said. "With the backing of ASV, Horton has added many additional resources to its dedicated employees, independent sales organization and manufacturing facility to maintain our position as a leader in ambulance industry."

Horton, the only company in the industry to have more than 30 years of crash testing experience, is recognized worldwide as the quality and technology leader in emergency medical vehicles. In addition to its safety testing, Horton was an industry innovator in the use of multiplex electrical technology, exterior oxygen storage with electronic controls and the use of anti-microbial protection in the patient area.

ASV, with revenue of approximately $1 billion, is a market leader in three industry segments: fire and emergency; recreational vehicles; and commercial (bus and industrial). The Company was formed through the combination of four existing portfolio-companies of American Industrial Partners (AIP): E-ONE, Inc, Collins Industries, Inc., and Halcore Group, Inc.; with Fleetwood RV, Inc. to be combined in the fourth quarter of this year. American Industrial Partners is an operationally-focused middle-market private equity firm comprised primarily of multi-disciplined engineers and experienced operators which makes control investments in North-American based industrial businesses and implements strategies to grow the earnings of those businesses.

AIP has managed three prior funds which totaled over $1 billion and is currently investing its fourth fund, $405.5 million American Industrial Partners Capital Fund IV, LP.
