Wound Care Startup Named a Semifinalist

PreCare Medical Inc (Ann Arbor, MI) was named a semifinalist for the ninth annual Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition (ID Ventures, Detroit, MI). The competition features 24 semifinalists, mostly focused on information technology and health care, looking for a share of $1 million in investment prize money.

The startup has created an oxygen-producing wound care dressing in the form of a heat-sealed bag. This 10 cm x 10 cm x 5 mm dressing is made of a porous material that allows internal to diffuse out, allowing for an oxygen production rate of 10 mL per hour. The technology significantly reduces the energy required for oxygen production and could be an alternative to complex and expensive portable oxygen generators.
