William H. Eaglstein, M.D. Endowed Chair in Wound Healing Has Inaugural Holder

Marjana Tomic-Canic, Ph.D., is the first holder of the William H. Eaglstein, M.D. Endowed Chair in Wound Healing at the University of Miami. Dr. Eaglstein’s legacy spans nearly 40 years at the Miller School, and served as the second chair for the University of Miami Department of Dermatology for 17 years. This department is known as one of the most respected programs in the country, with estimates of 25 department chairs at Universities nationwide having training or served as faculty at University of Miami. The Eaglestein chair is the first chair to be named after an academic physician/researcher and only the second wound healing chair in the United States.

Dr. Tomic-Canic is a professor and vice chair of research in the Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine as well as the director of the Wound Healing and Regenerative Medicine Research Program. During the ceremony, she thanked her mentors and expressed her gratitude for being recognized with this high honor.
