First Noninvasive, Undisruptive Blood Flow and Perfusion Imaging Medical Device Approved by FDA
RFPi has created a medical imaging device that will not interrupt surgical procedures, or require injections, dyes, radiation, or direct patient contact, to show blood flow. The intent of this product, iCertainty, is to reduce procedural complications and hospital costs. The FDA approved the device for imaging blood flow and perfusion in tissue up to 4-5mm in depth.
The low-energy lasers, high-speed imaging cameras, proprietary analysis techniques, and flow-calculation algorithms come together to present real-time visualization of blood flow, as well as quantified information. The next step for researchers at RFPi is to work to develop a mobile device for use in the wound care field and diabetes clinics.
