3. TWC:Describe your experience as a healthcare writer.
SW: I have been writing on hyperbaric-related topics for almost 20 years. I was
a contributing writer to Hyperbaric Medicine Today magazine and its successor, and contributed a chapter to Hyperbaric Facility Safety.
5. TWC:Describe your role in the April 2010 issue of Today's Wound Clinic.
SWCaroline Fife contacted me and asked if I would be willing to lend a hand with the upcoming article on hyperbaric chambers.
6. TWC: Tell us a little about your experience in HBOT?
SW: I've been fortunate to have a broad experience in the field. I was introduced to HBO in 1985 while working as a respiratory therapist and tasked with developing my hospital's program. After developing and running the HBO program, I spent 5 years with a chamber manufacturer as a technical specialist, then helped found one of the first HBO/wound care contract providers (Hyperbaric Oxygen Inc/TotalWound Treatment Centers). During my 8 years with HBO/TWTC, I also started a chamber manufacturing company, and helped found the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Association. After leaving HOI, I established a consulting firm, then merged it into Medical Multiplex, Inc., where I served as Sr. VP until we were acquired by National Healing Corp. After a year with National Healing, I joined a start-up chamber manufacturing company, then established my current venture, Hyperbaric Safety Systems.
7. TWC As TWC's newest blogger, what do you plan on writing about or covering in your blog?
SW: In addition to covering breaking news, I also plan to respond to reader questions on hyperbaric-related topics.

SW:email: steve@jstevenwood.com or phone 210-823-2200
9. TWC:Tell me about any side projects or ventures that you are involved in and how people can learn more about them?
SW:I'm an avid cyclist and advocate for our city, so I've established a touring company (San Antonio Bike Tours, LLC) that provides custom guided tours of historic San Antonio. We utilize recumbent tricycles for our tours, which are stable and extremely comfortable. We will be starting tours in mid-June, so if you're coming to San Antonio for the UHMS Gulf Coast Chapter meeting, plan on joining us for a tour. Our website should be active in mid-May - www.sabiketours.com - check it out.
