Oswego Wound Center Appoints Medical Director

Carlos Dator Jr., MD, has been named the medical director at the Center for Wound Healing at Oswego (NY) Health. Dator graduated from Oswego High School and attended Loyola College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, graduating cum laude, according to facility officials. He obtained his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, located on the island of St. Maarten. Dator completed his family medicine residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Along with serving as medical director for the center, Dator is a hospitalist providing care to Oswego Hospital patients and sees patients in a private office in Oswego, where his physician mother, Carmen Dator, MD, provides care. His father, Carlos Dator, MD, is also a local physician. The outpatient facility, located on the third floor of Oswego Hospital, includes four private treatment rooms and two hyperbaric chambers.

New Rehab & Wound Center To Be Named After Late Executive

An outpatient wound care clinic is among the plans for a new, expanded rehabilitation and wellness center at Parkview Huntington (IN) Hospital. According to a report by the Huntington County TAB, the facility will be named in honor of Holly Sale, a woman who led the rehab department at the facility until her death last June, and is expected to open in early 2019. Ground was broken for the construction Nov. 17. The Holly D. Sale Rehabilitation and Wellness Center is expected to offer additional treatment rooms and draw wound care patients from surrounding counties. The expansion will reportedly create 13 new jobs within the first year, with additional jobs to be added later. 

Hospital Receives Grant For Wound Care Supplies

Newton (KS) Medical Center, a member of the Atlantic Health System, has received a $1,500 grant from the Women’s Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Kansas Community Foundation, according to the Wichita Eagle. According to the report, the funds from the grant will be used to provide wound care supplies to patients who can’t afford them. 

Wound Clinic Opens In New Mexico

Officials at Carlsbad (NM) Medical Center have announced the opening of a new wound care center. According to a report by the Current-Argus, the center opened Nov. 9 and is directed by wound care specialist Gary Harmon, MD. The facility was also recently recognized by the New Mexico Department of Health and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health as a “top performer” in several areas of medical treatment, according to the report.

“With the arrival of Dr. Harmon and the opening of our new wound care center, we will be able to keep many patients in Carlsbad that are otherwise traveling out of town for this service,” Cathy Hibbs, Carlsbad Medical Center’s chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement. “This is a service line that will continue to grow, as we will be expanding wound care in the next year with plans of offering hyperbaric oxygen therapy.” 

Wound Clinic Director  Joins Medical Network

Ganary Dabiri, MD, PhD, a board-certified dermatologist and director of the Dermatology Wound Healing Clinic at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence, RI, has been hired by CharterCARE Medical Associates to care for patients in Providence, Lincoln, Johnston, Cranston, and North Providence. Dabiri completed a wound healing fellowship at Roger Williams and attended medical school at Albany Medical College, where she also received her PhD and master’s degree in cell biology and cancer research. She received her bachelor’s of science in biological sciences from Florida International University. A member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Rhode Island Dermatology Society, the New England Dermatology Society, and the American Medical Association, Dabiri also has numerous research publications and presentations to her credit, according to officials at the medical center.
