WVU WOUND CARE CLINIC RECERTIFIED BY UHMS 
The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV, has received national reaccreditation by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), making it one of only 200 hyperbaric centers in the United States that have achieved the UHMS accreditation, according to a report by the Herald-Mail Media. UHMS accreditation means the facility has met or exceeded the highest standards of care and patient safety through rigorous evaluation of the operations, including equipment, staff, and training, to ensure that the utmost quality is maintained within the specialty of undersea and hyperbaric medicine. The UHMS program and standards have been recognized by The Joint Commission. The facility is an outpatient department of WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center that opened in November 2012 with one hyperbaric chamber. A second chamber was added in September 2013 and the facility became the first wound care center in West Virginia to receive UHMS accreditation in 2015, according to the report. The center is staffed with physicians, nurses, and technicians. 

WOUND CLINIC OFFERING FREE COMMUNITY TOUR 
The wound care staff at Parrish Medical Center, Titusville, FL, is offering a free community health presentation on chronic wounds along with a tour of the facility’s wound healing center Jan. 24. According to a report by Florida Today, Parrish wound healing centers have been recognized with national awards for continued clinical excellence in wound healing by Healogics Inc. 

NEW WOUND CLINIC PART OF ANNIVERSARY MILESTONE 
This fall, staff at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA, a member of HCA South Atlantic, Charleston, SC, celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center. As part of the recognition, hospital officials also cut a ribbon on a $5.8 million wound clinic expansion, according to the online news site What’s Up Augusta. 

NEW YORK CLINIC EARNS HYPERBARIC CERTIFICATION 
Officials at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, Valhalla, NY, recently announced their Wound Care and Hyperbaric Institute has received reaccreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). UHMS accreditation means the facility has met or exceeded the highest standards of care and patient safety through rigorous evaluation of the operations, including equipment, staff, and training, to ensure that the utmost quality is maintained within the specialty of undersea and hyperbaric medicine. The UHMS program and standards have been recognized by The Joint Commission. Good Samaritan is the only hospital in Rockland County to receive this distinction, officials said. The hospital’s team of physicians, nurses, technicians, and management collaborated to ensure compliance with UHMS-related standards of practice and safety measures, officials said, adding that the accreditation demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality of care. “We strive to maintain a center of excellence for clinical hyperbaric oxygen therapy here at Good Samaritan Hospital,” said William Goumas, MD, medical director of the Wound and Hyperbaric Institute. “We were awarded the reaccreditation because we exceeded the requirements of the UHMS survey, which assessed us not only for clinical practice, but also for our high standards and participation in continuing education of our team and exceptional care for our patients and the community.” UHMS has also reportedly reaccredited the wound centers at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY, and MidHudson Regional Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY. 

MICHIGAN WOUND CARE CLINIC GETS RENOVATED, NEW HOME 
The wound care center at Hillsdale (MI) Hospital is now part of the facility’s newly renovated specialty services unit that was unveiled this fall. The unit also houses the hospital’s sleep lab and infusion center. The renovations totaled $100,000, according to the Hillsdale Daily News. 

WOUND CLINIC OPENS AT CHESAPEAKE REGIONAL 
Officials at Chesapeake (VA) Regional Healthcare marked the opening of their Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, a new facility in Elizabeth City. The center employs a staff of four and is headed by program director Errol Rivera, according to a report by The Daily Advance. As many as 250 patients per month are expected to be seen.
