Shindell, Carosh Now Offering New Training Program
Today’s Wound Clinic (TWC) editorial advisory board member Roger Shindell, MS, CHPS, CISA, and Carosh Compliance Solutions, Crown Point, IN, recently announced the launch of the company’s Privacy Officer Organizational Fundamentals (POOF) program, a two-day training course designed to provide intensive training and education on concepts related to privacy and data-protection laws to help professionals excel in their roles of managing privacy and security programs (initial training will be held June 25-26 and June 27-28 in Clive, IA). “In our practice, we find many clients have been thrown into the role of a privacy officer without adequate training or support,” said Shindell, president, founder, and chief executive officer of Carosh Compliance Solutions. “Having limited or inadequate training sets them up for failure. We understand that individuals tasked to implement and manage privacy of protected health and personal information may be missing the requisite training for success and, therefore, developed POOF training to address this critical problem.” POOF is designed to provide a foundation for individuals tasked with the responsibility of managing their organization’s privacy programs. The training will also provide the knowledge and skills to design, implement, and manage a privacy program, evaluate its effectiveness, and assess vendors offering related services. In addition to providing the fundamentals to succeed at their position as a privacy officer, POOF will provide the foundational knowledge for the attendee to sit for the International Association of Privacy Professionals’ (IAPP’s) certified information privacy manager certification (CIPM), a first step in becoming a privacy professional. The IAPP was founded in 2000 with the mission to define, support, and improve the privacy profession globally, and its CIPM certification is recognized around the world as a leader in the privacy and security industry as the “go to” certification for privacy officers, Shindell said. Carosh is a company that seeks to help clients implement privacy and security programs that will both minimize the risk of having a breach and assist in passing regulatory scrutiny by providing training and security support and guidance to clients when a breach occurs. Shindell is also a co-author of TWC’s HIPAA Privacy & Security column, which can be accessed online here, and appeared in Episode 4 of the TWC Podcast that is available on iTunes.
