In Memoriam: Remembering Matthew William Livingston, BSN: A Tribute to a Dedicated Wound Care Provider
Today’s Wound Clinic, HMP Communications LLC, and the wound care industry are mourning the loss of the late Matthew William Livingston, BSN, who passed away Aug. 12, 2015, at the age of 50. Author of both editions of the Scottsdale Wound Management Guide, Livingston worked as an industry consultant and was serving as the director of wound care and hyperbaric medicine at Honor Health, Scottsdale, AZ, at the time of his death.
One who spent 17 years in the healthcare sector specializing in wound care and hyperbaric medicine, he conducted clinical research on health-related products and technology, wrote for industry publications (including this journal), developed white papers for corporate clients, and provided strategic guidance for corporations in the development and acquisition of new products. He also served as a healthcare technology consultant and directed the development and implementation of electronic health record-based systems throughout the healthcare continuum. His most recent focus was to assist in the creation of tablet and smartphone programs that incorporate health assessment data points to improve clinical outcomes through predictive recommendations. In his private life he served on the executive board of the Arizona Girls’ Lacrosse Association.
Matthew will be remembered for his kindness and friendliness to all. A loving husband and a wonderful father, nothing made him happier than time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife Laura Shaw and daughters Elisabeth and Caroline. He is also survived by his parents, Dr. Charles Livingston and Joan Livingston, of Salina, KS; his brother Ross; his sister Carrie (nephew John and niece Helen); his in-laws, and many, many friends.
An educational fund has been established for Matthew’s daughters. Donations to Laura Shaw (for the Livingston Fund Account) can be made at any BBVA Compass Bank location or be sent to BBVA Compass Bank, 12434 N. Tatum Blvd., Phoenix, AZ, 85032.
