AHIP 2017: Anthem CEO Joseph Swedish, Mike Leavitt, and More
On June 7th, professionals from across the health care industry will be attending the AHIP Institute & Expo 2017—where experts will discuss topics including the future of health care, precision medicine, value-based care models, and more.
Joseph Swedish, CEO of Anthem, will kick off the general session with a keynote presentation titled “Reinventing Health Care for the Future.” According to the AHIP, Mr Swedish is expected to play a major role in shaping the conversation surround health care. With Anthem in a unique position, coming off the heels of a failed meger with Cigna, Mr Swedish’s presentation will be a must-see for conference attendees.
Former Utah Governor and HHS Secretary under President George W Bush, Mike Leavitt, of Leavitt Partners, will follow Mr Swedish’s presentation with a keynote titled “Making Health Care Accessible and Affordable for All Americans.” Mr Leavitt will offer his unique perspective to the current legislative and regulatory challenges that Congress faces as they attempt to pass a health care bill that improves access while reducing costs.
The first day of AHIP 2017 will continue with the “Influencer Series,” a group of sessions that will allow attendees to connect with five health care thought leaders in specific areas where the delivery dynamic is evolving. Michael E Chernew, PhD
Leonard D. Schaeffer professor of health care policy and director of the Healthcare Markets and Regulation Lab at Harvard Medical School will present on developing a cohesive and adoptable framework for payment reform and benefit design. Nancy-Ann M DeParle, Partner and Co-Founder at Consonance Capital Partners will discuss the successes and shortcomings of the ACA with an emphasis on the path forward for health care reform efforts. Patrick Viguerie, President of Innosight, will present data and strategies for navigating the disruptive changes that will impact the health care plans of the future. Other influencer series speakers include Kyra Bobinet, MD, MPH, CEO of engagedIN, and Carol Kruse, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Cambia Health Solutions.
Conference attendees will also be able to check out a few concurrent sessions towards the end of the first day of AHIP. These sessions include topics ranging from opioid use disorder to health care cyber-security. These remaining session will all be part of 8 unique tracks that conference attendees can follow to gain insight in specific areas of interest relevant to their interests and careers. These tracks include: Consumer Experience, Industry Disruption & Innovation, Advancing APMs, Technologies & Business Solutions, Prevention, Health & Well-Being, Complex Conditions, Data Analytics & Insight, and Navigating Health Care 2.0.
