Videos from Expo: Ed Racht Presents a Not-So-Crazy Glimpse Into the Future of EMS
"What if we had a drone that delivered drugs and the only way you could open the locked drone was your thumb print or your retinal scan?" asked Ed Racht, chief medical officer for American Medical Response.
"That's crazy! Nuts!" said Racht, before following with, "Is it?"
Racht presented this and other not-so-crazy scenarios currently possible with existing consumer technology during the Data & Technology Summit at EMS World Expo 2017 in Las Vegas. According to Racht, devices in wide use today—from OnStar to Siri to Waze—could be incorporated by EMS to improve emergency care for patients.
"FedEx knows more about where their junk is than we know about where our patients are," said Racht.
