Oct. 27--A MedEvac ambulance carrying a patient was sideswiped by a tractor-trailer Wednesday night on Route 22, but no one was injured, an official said.

The accident happened about 7 p.m. on Route 22 near the Allentown border. The truck fled the scene, according to emergency radio reports.

State police from Bethlehem were investigating. Troopers released no information Wednesday, but the Lehigh Valley Health Network, which owns the ambulance, confirmed the vehicle had been hit.

"There was minor damage to the ambulance and no injuries to anyone on board," LVHN spokesman Brian Downs said.
