Oct. 12--A Cambridge man has been arrested after he went joyriding in an ambulance and ended up hitting a police cruiser.
Last night just after 5 p.m., police got a call from Pro Ambulance Dispatch that one of its ambulances was just stolen from a local hospital and was stopped at the traffic lights at Cambridge and Third streets.
A Cambridge police officer spotted the ambulance moving toward the McGrath Highway, got ahead of it and forced it to stop.
The officer got out and ordered the operator to turn the ambulance off. Police said the driver was apparently trying to comply when the the ambulance lurched forward and hit the cruiser, causing minor damage. There were no injuries.
