Paramedics Plus Announces New Director of Quality and Clinical Services

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (August 30, 2016) – Paramedics Plus, the 911 ambulance service provider for Alameda County, has hired Kimberly Lacina as director of quality and clinical services. Lacina leads Paramedics Plus’ clinical services department, which focuses on excellence in patient care.

In her new role, Lacina will ensure Paramedics Plus’ compliance with federal, state and local protocols for emergency medical services and help its employees provide the best possible care to patients. She will oversee the field training officer and employee orientation programs and organize its continuing medical education for employees. In addition, Lacina will serve as the community outreach liaison to strengthen its local relationships.

Most recently, Lacina was the director of clinical services for Sunstar Paramedics, which is Paramedics Plus’ operation in Pinellas County, Florida. She led Sunstar Paramedics’ clinical services team in overhauling its orientation process to increase the capstone testing rates and onboard new paramedics quickly. The capstone testing scores significantly improved to nearly 100 percent passing rate and the time spent in the onboarding process decreased by 30 percent.

Lacina joined Sunstar Paramedics in 2002 as a registered nurse on its Critical Care Transport Team and advanced to hold several leadership positions within the organization. Lacina earned a Master of Nursing degree and she holds certifications as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP-C), emergency nurse and paramedic.

Lacina received the 2016 Distinguished Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) award from the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.
