$41,000 in BGE Grants Going to Md. Emergency Responders
Jan. 07--Carroll County first responders will soon be getting a boost from Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. in the form of $41,000 in Emergency Response and Safety Grants that will be directed toward nine of the county's emergency response organizations, according to a county news release.
Those awards include a grant awarded to the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club for an update to its emergency communications; funds for the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association intended to help fund an automated external defibrillator replacement; money to the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company to help replace a vent saw; a grant awarded to the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company for turnout gear locker replacement; funds to help the Maryland Military Auxiliary Radio acquire a MARS portable communications kit; a grant to the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Company for the purchase of a rescue tool power unit; money to assist the North Carroll Auxiliary Police in vehicle replacement; a grant for the Sykesville-Freedom District Volunteer Fire Company to acquire a cellular booster/repeater; and money for the Westminster Volunteer Fire Company to purchase a chest compression device.
Carroll County was one of 11 jurisdictions chosen to receive funds, according to the release.
BGE awarded a total of $325,000 in grants to agencies around the state to support the work of nonprofit public safety organizations, according to a company release.
"BGE is proud to once again give back to nonprofit public safety and emergency response organizations who selflessly give their time and energy to maintain safety in the communities that we serve," Valencia A. McClure, BGE's director of communications and corporate relations, said in a statement. "This grant funding will allow these agencies to purchase equipment, and support programs, and services that are vital to their preparedness and the overall safety of our community."
