Firefighter Seriously Injured in Calif. Truck Wreck
OAKLAND -- A firefighter suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning after a fire truck crashed on a taxiway at Oakland International Airport during a training exercise, authorities said.
It was not immediately known what caused the crash but the truck eventually landed on its side, just before 11:45 a.m., according to information from fire dispatch and the airport.
The wreck closed the small taxiway but has not affected any flights, an airport spokesman said.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is assisting the Oakland Fire Department with their investigation, said Sgt. J.D. Nelson.
The fire department was participating in a training exercise when the truck flipped, Nelson said. He did not have additional details.
