Pa. County Could Outsource Its EMS Services
Nov. 21--STEELTON, Dauphin County -- A Dauphin County borough facing some tough budget cuts is looking into outsourcing its EMS service that's currently provided by the borough.
Members of the Steelton Borough Council hearing a presentation from the Pinnacle Life Team.
The borough is looking to outsource it's EMS services that are currently operated by borough firefighters.
This would mean ten people would lose their part time jobs, while two would be losing their full time jobs.
Steelton Mayor Tom Acri says it's ambulance service is only part time. With a strict budget, and the need for a 24-hour service,it's something that has to be done.
" To be fair to the residents we owe them good service and this would be an improvement to outsource it to another outlet, " says Acri
If the borough hires the Pinnacle Life Team, there wouldn't be any ambulances stationed in Steelton. Most would be in Harrisburg.
Pinnacle Life Team, already provides advanced life support service to Steelton.
They say it's becoming more common for townships and boroughs to outsource it's EMS services.
Acri says a decision to hire the pinnacle life team won't come for a least a couple of months.
