Content includes considerations for wound selection criteria, dressing application, device settings, and options for wound irrigation available to NPWT users.

Objectives

- Describe the indications and contraindications of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) as well as considerations for determining appropriate use

- Select device settings for NPWT relevant to the type of wound and anatomical location

- Outline the key considerations associated with the application of NPWT dressings including peri-wound skin protection, dressing two wounds, and managing challenging wounds

- Discuss both traditional and newer approaches to NPWT related to their mechanisms of action, efficacy, safety, and application
