Erin Wei, MD, on Familial Melanoma Risk
Erin Wei, MD, director of the Bullous Disease Clinic at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, director of the Brigham and Women’s Health Care Center at Westwood, instructor at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, discusses her latest research, which found that patients with a first-degree relative who has had melanoma have a 74% higher risk of melanoma, 22% higher risk of squamous cell carcinoma, and 27% higher risk of basal cell carcinoma compared with those without a family history of melanoma.
