Sneak Peek: The Dermatology Nurses’ Association 40th Annual Convention

December 2021

The Dermatology Nurses’ Association (DNA) is excited to invite you to our 40th Annual Convention: Focus on the Future, which will take place at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, on February 23-25, 2022. The convention is open to nurses (LPN, RN, NP), medical assistants, and office staff interested or working in dermatology. We are pleased to offer a wide variety of topics to prepare you for the latest advances in dermatology, including medical, aesthetic, pharmacology, surgical/cutaneous oncology, and professional development.

The General Session is open to all attendees and includes lectures on providing care for transgender and gender nonconforming patients, cicatricial pemphigoid, stress management and self-care, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, increasing patient access to biologics, dermatologic emergencies, cultural competence, dermatologic disorders in skin of color, teledermatology, psychocutaneous disorders, and The Robin Weber Immunology Symposium: Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

The NP Forum is open to nurse practitioners and will discuss the following topics: surgical cutaneous oncology skills, blistering skin disorders, vulvar dermatitis, Janus kinase inhibitors, transgender/gender nonconforming dermatology issues, mimics of psoriasis, aesthetics, leadership and political office, and essentials of dermoscopy (including hands-on dermoscopy practice).

There will be two postconvention workshops on February 26:

  1. Dermatology Nursing Essentials Workshop: This workshop will cover the fundamentals of dermatology nursing, serving as an excellent introduction for those new to dermatology and for those planning to take the RN-DNC certification exam.
  2. The Joan Shelk Fundamentals of Phototherapy Workshop: This workshop is an intensive 1-day training for those administering light therapy (psoralen plus UV-A, narrowband and broadband UV-B therapy, equipment operation, etc) under a physician’s supervision for psoriasis and other photoresponsive skin diseases.

This year’s DNA convention will include ample opportunities for learning and networking while enjoying world class dining, shows, and activities in the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas! There will be an evening reception for first-time conference attendees and other networking activities for returning attendees, which are wonderful ways to meet new and old dermatology colleagues and friends. We hope to see all of you there!

Titles, topics, and speakers are subject to change. For the most up-to-date convention information, please visit the official DNA 2022 Convention website at https://2021.dnanurse.org/.
