MDSolarSciences has pledged to donate 1% of the company’s 2017 annual sales to The Skin Cancer Foundation, a not-for-profit organization committed to decreasing the incidence of skin cancer through public and professional education and research.
With this partnership and annual financial contribution, MDSolar intends to create further awareness for the work and programs the Foundation provides, as well as to extend the organization’s important lifesaving guidance on sun care and skin cancer prevention.
Because nearly 90% of nonmelanoma skin cancers are associated with exposure to UV radiation from the sun, incidence can be reduced by adopting basic sun protection techniques like seeking shade, covering up with clothing, and daily sunscreen application. Research has shown that the daily use of SPF 15+ sunscreen can reduce the risk of melanoma by 50%.
“I’ve dedicated my life to the clinical care of patients with cancers of the skin. I started MDSolar and formulated the products to help prevent the many cases of skin cancer and melanoma I was needing to cure,” said Robert Friedman, MD, MSc (Med), and founder of MDSolarSciences. “I am delighted that we are able to increase our efforts by partnering with The Skin Cancer Foundation and help support our shared mission of creating awareness and preventing these diseases.”
To inaugurate the partnership, MDSolar will launch a marketing campaign leveraging an image-driven communications program rooted in the company’s mission to “Protect. Prevent. Educate.” The visual assets, animated GIF’s, will be featured across each of the company’s platforms and social media channels, with the brand’s e-commerce website serving as the hub of the campaign. The first image is a portrait highlighting the first in the series of important “Face Facts” presented to inform and empower consumers about the dangers of skin cancer—as well as to convey humanity and optimism, by sharing some of the preventive options available to consumers of all skin types.
