Thirty Freaking Years!
Where does the time go!? With this issue, The Dermatologist enters its 30th year of publication. Wow. The editorship of Dr Alan Fleischer (during the journal’s Skin & Aging incarnation) put the journal on very sound footing. We have been blessed with outstanding managing editors, including Lauren Mateja for the last 2 years, who have kept our journal well focused on practical issues facing dermatologists and our patients.
I do have some bittersweet news to share, though. This issue is Lauren’s last with The Dermatologist, as she is starting a new adventure. I wish her well! Lauren has also left the journal a strong foundation. As the search for a new managing editor is underway, Lauren’s absolute gem of a colleague, Amanda Balbi, will be handling our print production in the interim.
This issue is another strong effort from Lauren, encompassing a broad spectrum of dermatology. We will be covering the “Be a Sun Hero” program with Dr Amy Brodsky (page 39), stasis dermatitis diagnostic clues with Dr Susan Nedorost (page 41), the joys of geriatric dermatology with Dr Daniel Butler and colleagues (page 43), and why the derm-dermpath relationship is critical for diagnosis with Dr Abel Jarrell (page 46).
I hope we keep his up for another 30!
