It is a glorious time of year. Spring has arrived, and the flowers are blooming. The trees are greening up again. The air is fresh and warm. It feels so good to be alive.

The transition from the cold, dark winter to the warmer, brighter spring makes people happy. We humans are programmed to respond to change. Positive change feels good, almost irrespective of the absolute state of things.

That is probably why I feel so good about dermatologic treatment. We have witnessed a remarkable number of advances in therapies. In this issue, 2 outstanding dermatologists, Dr Colby Evans and Dr Joseph Merola, cover the incredible progress made in psoriasis over the last decade, patient advocacy, and dermatology-rheumatology collaboration. We also take a look at how to optimize skin care in rosacea management and patients’ perspectives on atopic dermatitis and mental health.

If all innovations in dermatology were to stop now, we would still be able to offer patients great care. But very quickly, we would get used to where we are and become disillusioned. Fortunately, that is not going to happen. With so many new treatments in development, it is going to be spring for a long time to come.
