CoolLipo 1320 nm laser system from CoolTouch is now FDA cleared for laser lipolysis. According to the Roseville, CA-based manufacturer, the system designed to ablate fat in areas such as the neck, chin and arms improves the outcome of conventional liposuction in larger areas such as the abdomen and thighs. In addition, the 1320-nm wavelength is said to tighten the skin from the inside out by directly targeting collagen and connective tissue.

The CoolLipo procedure is performed in a physician’s office under local anesthesia. Patient benefits cited by the company include minimal, if any, bruising, and less recovery time and cost than a face or neck lift.

MiXto SX Laser’s New Fractional Technology Reduces Resurfacing Recovery Time

According to its manufacturer, the MiXto SX by Lasering USA of San Ramon, California, offers advantages over older CO2 laser skin resurfacing systems, including full recovery in about 5 days without need for full-facial anesthesia required by the traditional linear method.

This new scanner divides the treatment area into quadrants. Then, its micro-spot method (300 microns vs. 1300 microns in other systems) skips the laser beam from one quad to the next, thus maximizing the thermal cooling of the tissue. Also, according to company literature, the deep penetration stimulates the production of new collagen within 6 to 12 weeks.

However, while patients may quickly resume normal activity, they are required to wear sun-block every day for at least a month.

Acne Treatment Combines Cleanser and Medication in Two-Sided Pad
