Whenever I speak with readers to gather feedback about what topics you want to read more of, I usually hear a resounding cry for more articles on coding. While it may not seem like the “sexiest” topic, correct coding is essential to the bottom line of every dermatology practice — as you well know.
Proper coding can save you thousands, and keeping up with the multiple coding changes that occur in any given year can seem like full-time job.
That’s why, beginning with this issue, we will have content in every issue to help you code more efficiently in order to receive the maximum reimbursement you deserve.
Coding Feature Series
Inga Ellzey, M.P.A., R.H.I.A., C.D.C., has long authored the “Coding Corner” column in Skin & Aging. This six-times-a-year column has always been based on direct questions Ms. Ellzey has received from dermatologists who use one of her two billing services.
Ms. Ellzey, who is President/CEO of the Inga Ellzey Practice Group, Inc., in Casselberry, FL, and who is an expert on dermatology coding, documentation and reimbursement, has been sharing her knowledge for years with Skin & Aging.
As her business has become increasingly busy, she has taken a step back to now author a four-times-a-year series on coding. Please see page 54 for her the first installment of her “Coding Update” series.
Welcome to our New coding Columnist
We are proud to announce that Leon H. Kircik, M.D., who lectures and frequently writes on coding topics, will now author the new column “Coding Solutions.” This column will run eight times a year in Skin & Aging, and will debut with our February issue.
I look forward to highlighting Dr. Kircik in my column next month when his column debuts, and we hope that you will find the additional coding content valuable to you in practice.
Please stop by our booth at the American Academy of Dermatology Meeting. I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how Skin & Aging can better serve you.
