Hi, my name is Dr. Tracey Vlahovic and i'm a podiatrist and Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

I want to briefly discuss Dermeleve today, which is made by Advanced Derm Solutions and this product has been on the market for about eight months and it's new to the podiatry market, but it's concept is also new, and it's unique. Moisturizers are something that we utilize a lot in dermatology. Skin barrier repair and skin barrier function are buzzwords that you would see at any dermatology conference, this is really crucial or treating our patients who have eczema, psoriasis, or even athlete's foot, we want to make sure that that skin barrier is healthy and functional. But what about our patients who have itch, and itch can be so life changing for patients. Well, this particular product not only does it work for skin barrier repair, but it does seem to mitigate itch. Now, certainly, we have patients who have itch because they have a skin rash but there's patients who come in who don't have a visible skin rash sometimes, and we'll have this itch that you can't really find the source of.

Well, this particular product, Dermeleve, has a component in it, which is very similar to calcium, which seems to work and be molecularly similar to the calcium dependent receptors and channels that calcium would normally work on, and this is really crucial in the neural pathways of itch.

So what I have experienced with some my patients is that when they've used this, within five to 15 minutes of applying this to their skin, their itch was greatly reduced to becoming nothing, and that can be life changing for our patients. The other thing that I have noticed with these patients is that it's again we're thinking about creating a healthier skin barrier. So anything that I can do to make the stratum cornea healthier and happier will also decrease the amount of flares in the future for these patients.

So, not only do we have a unique component to Dermeleve, that again works on those pathways of itch to mitigate them, but we also have a product that is going to help repair the skin barrier so with these two unique aspects of this moisturizer. This is something that we can easily utilize in our practices. Now, this product isn't found in the drugstore.

What the company usually does is they will send you a kit and they'll send you either QR codes, or something that you can use for the patient and the patient can then purchase on their own. My patients have definitely done that I give them sample to see if they like it, how it feels and then they're able to purchase it on their own. The other thing that I do warn patients is there could be a slight tingling sensation upon first use for many of my patients, this is not something that they really worry about or if they experience it it's for a brief few moments of time and then the ultimate change happens where again they they have their introduced, and it also feels very cosmetically elegant.

I have a recent patient who has psoriasis who had a terrible flare after having some sun exposure and applied it to her skin and again reported within minutes that her skin was really calm and had no itch so she was able to get on with her day as a very busy person and just enjoying her life so. As I have gotten feedback from my patients utilizing this product, it is spurred me to use it more and more because there's been such positive feedback from my own patients. So again, this is something that's new on the market, it is certainly interesting to see where it where it will go and how people will utilize it. It's being certainly applied by the dermatologists in the world who, like me, treat a lot of skin rashes and again i've been utilizing it quite a bit in my own practice, so I hope it serves you well, and thank you for listening.
