Occlusive Adhesive Patches

A new occlusive wound dressing can offer a waterproof barrier.

Hy-Tape^® adhesive patches can cover a large area or the clinician can trim the patches into different shapes for areas that are hard to tape, notes the manufacturer Hy-Tape International. The company says the patches are available in 4-inch squares and 5-inch squares.

As the manufacturer says, Hy-Tape can save caregivers time and money as there is less need to change costly dressings and the tape is waterproof for cleanings. The company adds that Hy-Tape conforms to body contours and can remain in place on oily or hairy skin.

A New Platform For MIS

For surgeons favoring minimally invasive surgery (MIS), a new platform may provide a solution.

As part of the platform, the AR-200 MIS Power Unit consists of a corded drill that is high-torque and low velocity with built-in fluid irrigation, according to the manufacturer Arthrex. The company says its Minimally Invasive Burrs are indicated for a variety of MIS applications.

The MIS Instrument Set is reusable and features common MIS instruments, which Arthrex notes are functional and cost-effective. The company notes its line of Compression FT Screws are headless screws and their diameters range from 2.5 mm to 7.0 mm with lengths from 8 mm to 140 mm.

Growth Factors In A Sustained Release

Surgeons can add an innovative formulation of growth factors to assist in regenerating bone.

ProteiOS features osteoinductive, chemotactic, angiogenic and mitogenic growth factors, notes the manufacturer Biologica Technologies. The company says the product contains recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-2), BMP-2, BMP-4, BMP-7, platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF-BB), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-b), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and other growth factors.

Biologica Technologies says ProteiOS offers a sustained release of growth factors rather than a burst release of rhBMP-2. The company says ProteiOS has the highest non-recombinant BMP-2 content on the market.
