Treating Ankle Fractures From All Angles
A new family of plates and screws allows surgeons to approach ankle fractures from various anatomy-specific angles.
The CoLink Afx® Ankle Fracture System is a collection of five plate families that surgeons can use for traumatic ankle fractures and ankle osteotomies, according to the manufacturer In2Bones. The company says the plate options include Lateral Fibula, Posterior-Lateral Fibula, One-Third Tubular, Medial Tibia, and Posterior Tibia. In2Bones adds that the CoLink Afx system includes 2.7 and 3.5 mm cortical screws with innovative CoLink® VAL- Variable Angle Locking Technology.
In2Bones says the low-profile titanium plates are type II anodized, offering a stronger, smoother surface than standard color anodization. The company adds the plate and screw head interface is minimally prominent, which provides more protection against soft tissue irritation.

Plaque Psoriasis Relief Without Steroids
Patients with lower extremity plaque psoriasis can now get relief without the adverse effects of steroids.
Bryhali Lotion can soothe the symptoms of plaque psoriasis, including itching, inflammation, plaque buildup, flaking and dryness, notes the manufacturer Ortho Dermatologics. The company says Bryhali (halobetasol proprionate) is a low-concentration formulation that can limit patients’ exposure to steroids’ negative effects, such as atrophy, striae, telangiectasias, hypopigmentation and allergic contact dermatitis.
Patients only need to use the lotion, which contains a moisturizer, once a day. Two clinical trials have shown Bryhali provided relief from psoriasis for four weeks after patients stopped using it.

A Shot Of Regeneration
Physicians can now repair damaged or degenerated tissue with growth factors in a syringe.
The Axolotl Shot™ is a regenerative fluid that physicians can easily use as it is preloaded into a syringe in 1 mL or 2 mL volumes, according to the manufacturer Axolotl Biologix. The company notes the regenerative fluid is manufactured with the proprietary BioSym™ process to provide growth factors and cytokines to stimulate the growth and repairs of cells.
The company adds that Axolotl Shot, which can be used at room temperature, derives from placental amniotic components. Axolotl Biologix says donor tissue is recovered and processed aseptically according to Food and Drug Administration guidelines.
