Fighting Fungus And Renewing Nails

A single product may offer antifungal, cosmetic and renewal for toenails.

Tolcylen™ utilizes tolnaftate 1% and undecylenic acid 25% to help treat and prevent fungal infections while acting as a cleansing/emulsifying agent and organic preservative, according to the manufacturer Marlinz Pharma. The company says the product’s urea, lactic acid and propylene glycol soften, thin and lighten brittle and discolored nails, and also act as penetrating agents for the other ingredients. Marlinz Pharma notes jojoba oil and vitamin E moisturize and revitalize nails, promoting healthy nail appearance and growth.

The company adds that Tolcylen’s patented delivery system is user-friendly and the applicator tip controls the flow while effectively dispensing medication on or under the edges of nails.

Salvation For The Charcot Foot

An innovative external fixation system can reportedly help treat a number of lower extremity deformities, including Charcot foot.

The Salvation® External Fixation System can address fractures, non-unions, and complex foot and ankle deformities including Charcot neuroarthropathy, notes the manufacturer Wright Medical. The company says the system utilizes tensioned thin wires, half-pins and rings. The Salvation system has various features to assist with proper frame positioning, according to Wright Medical. The company notes that a slotted ring design permits quick and easy attachment of the frame components, and minimizes the need to assemble small, threaded components.

Wright Medical says the system includes components to help position the foot and lower leg within the frame, and maintain an appropriate position throughout surgery. The Salvation system also has a Wire Guide to facilitate precise placement of the wire on the ring, which the company says minimizes the need for more connection components and obviates the need for more surgical steps. Wright Medical notes one may use the Salvation system as the sole fixation device, or in conjunction with Salvation® Beams and Bolts or the Salvation® 3Di Midfoot Plating System.
