Endoform Antimicrobial Dermal Template Fighting Microbes With Silver

An extracellular matrix harnesses the power of silver for an antimicrobial effect.

Endoform® Antimicrobial Dermal Template utilizes 0.3% ionic silver, which shields wounds from microbial colonization and has a minimal impact on cell viability, according to the manufacturer Aroa. The company adds the matrix offers a wide spectrum of protection against microbes and its extended protection lasts up to seven days.

As Aroa notes, the Endoform Antimicrobial Dermal Template contains a natural, intact collagen scaffold and only utilizes natural tissue components.

SoreSpot Silicone TapeHealing Is No Longer A Sore Spot

A new silicone tape can help provide care and protection for healing scars and wounds.

SoreSpot® Silicone Tape has a low friction surface and the manufacturer PediFix says it can protect skin from the friction and shear that can exacerbate blisters, corns, calluses and bunions. The manufacturer notes that the tape can improve the appearance of scars and speed incision healing.

Since it is occlusive, SoreSpot enhances the penetration of topical agents for warts, notes PediFix. The silicone tape releases gently from fragile, at-risk skin and the company says it is waterproof, hypoallergenic, latex-free and reusable. The tape is available in 1-inch and 2-inch widths, and in lengths of 1.5 and 5 yards.

CoLink View Bone PlatesA PEEK At Bone Healing

A recently introduced plating system can give surgeons a clearer view of post-op healing.

CoLink® View Bone Plates combine titanium metal and polyether ether ketone (PEEK), a high-performance polymer, which is transparent to X-rays, unlike traditional metal plates, according to the manufacturer In2Bones. The company says the plates provide transverse joint compression and surgeons can see the bone fusion site as it heals postoperatively.

In2Bones says the PEEK in CoLink View is also less stiff than metal implants and is closer to the elasticity of bone. The company adds that implants made of metal would not have positive elasticity and thus would lead to slower healing.
