A Helpful Night Splint

Patients with various types of heel pain may get relief from a new night splint.      The Exoform® Dorsal Night Splint can be helpful in treating plantar fasciitis and related types of heel pain, according to the product’s manufacturer Ossur.      The company says the product can address issues that commonly arise with other braces. These issues include a lack of adjustability, pressure points, product migration and rotation.      Furthermore, Ossur notes the Exoform has a support shell that maintains the therapeutic angle of the foot and lower leg at 85 to 90 degrees. The splint’s Flex Edge™ not only eliminates pressure points and discomfort, but also protects sleep partners, notes the company.      Ossur adds that a non-slip plantar surface prevents patients from slipping during walking.      Company: Ossur      Product: Exoform® Dorsal Night Splint      For more info, circle 399 on your reader service card

Making Over Moleskin

A tried and true pain treatment has undergone a makeover thanks to a new gel.      Gel Moleskin is an update on the podiatric treatment of traditional moleskin, according to the manufacturer PediFix. The company says the silicone gel is self-adhesive and offers relief from pain, friction and pressure.      PediFix says Gel Moleskin can treat conditions such as corns, calluses, bunions, blisters and sore heels. The company says one can easily trim the product to fit problem areas, and that patients can wash and reapply the gel, which will retain its adhesive properties.      Company: PediFix      Product: Gel Moleskin      For more info, circle 400 on your reader service card
