A new line of comfort walking shoes may address a wide range of individual foot needs without straining the wallet.
The Etonic DRx line from Etonic Athletic features five new shoes to fit multiple widths of both men and women. According to the company, all of the shoes also offer enhanced comfort via Etonic’s Footrest Comfort System, a dual density, multi-layered footbed with a gel heel insert.

In addition to these features, Etonic says the DRx Journey, a men’s walking shoe, offers double depth sizing, a Dri-lex multi-zone sock liner system, a heel Stable Air chamber and other notable assets. The DRx Stride is the women’s version of this shoe and retails for $75. The DRx Journey retails for $80.
Etonic says the DRx Transport is a less expensive model that includes the Everdure high mileage outsole and Strobel slip last construction, among other benefits. The Transport retails for $75. Other shoes include the TransAm DRx ($55) and the DRx Slide ($50).
The new line meets the Medicare Therapeutic Shoe Bill guidelines and has been accepted for coding, according to Etonic.

An Orthotic Breakout
If your patients are looking for an alternative to polypropylene-based orthotics, new orthotics made from polymer engineering are now available.

JM Orthotics says its orthotics are strong, thin, functional and easily moldable. It notes the devices qualify as custom orthotics that form to the feet and are reimbursable. The company says you can fabricate the orthotics quickly in minutes, which makes it economical for practitioners and affordable for patients.
