Echocardiographic Series Demonstrating Impella-Induced Left Ventricular Microbubbles

Video Supplement to “Impella-Induced Left Ventricular Microbubbles, A Potential Sign for Hemolysis,” April 2020 Clinical Images article by Quevedo and Abi Rafeh.

We observed left ventricular microbubbles associated with Impella support in the setting of a high-risk coronary intervention in a 65-year-old man. Left ventricular microbubbles may indicate exaggerated shear stress and cavitation phenomenon, potentially leading to hemolysis. This echocardiography series demonstrates the diagnosis and resolution of the microbubbles.
