In June 2020, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) launched the SmartLinQ Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification Pathway for practices participating in the QOPI Certification Program.
The SmartLinQ QOPI Certification Pathway is designed to help practices automate quality measure tracking and reporting for participation in the program.
After piloting the SmartLinQ QOPI Certification Pathway at four CancerLinQ practices, ASCO is now offering the application for re-certification and maintenance submissions for all QOPI Certified CancerLinQ subscribers.
SmartLinQ provides practices with data collection, abstraction, and quality reporting for QOPI Certification. It also enables practices to:
- Track progress regularly against a broad set of quality measures
- Benchmark care against peers
- Identify “actionable patients” who need specific care or treatment to comply with quality standards
- Identify and fix data quality issues
“Oncology practices deserve to be recognized for delivering high-quality care, and they should not have to sacrifice time with patients to achieve that recognition,” stated Robert S Miller, MD, FACP, FASCO, medical director, CancerLinQ, in a press release (June 10, 2020). “Practices can seek quality certification while focusing more of their energies on patient care.”
Even more important, Dr Miller noted, is that patients gain from such attention and from improvements in the quality of care.—Zachary Bessette
