FarmboxRx Launches Drivers Health to Address Social Determinants of Health

FarmboxRx, a pioneer in using fresh produce as a health intervention, has unveiled Drivers Health (DH), a new platform aimed at addressing health care members' social needs beyond traditional medical care. The initiative seeks to bridge gaps in food access, transportation, housing, and other critical social determinants of health (SDOH) while enhancing data-driven engagement between members and health plans.

According to a recent McKinsey report, 45% of health insurance members experience at least one unmet social need, with many facing multiple challenges. Drivers Health is designed to improve health outcomes by providing tailored, home-delivered resources and personalized communication to underserved populations. The platform will also collect and relay data insights to health care providers to enhance strategic benefit utilization.

Ashley Tyrner-Dolce, founder and CEO of FarmboxRx, emphasized that health care extends beyond doctor visits. “I’ve struggled to balance basic needs like rent, food, and diapers while living on Medicaid as a single mother. That experience inspired me to build solutions that break down these barriers for others,” she said.

FarmboxRx has already demonstrated success in member engagement:

  • It has improved completion rates for annual wellness visits by 38%.
  • Its food delivery programs achieve a 99% success rate and include health education materials.
  • Member engagement strategies have increased mail-order pharmacy enrollment by 6.5%.

FarmboxRx, which has partnered with over 90 health plans, continues to innovate through its food-first engagement model, now expanding its impact with Drivers Health.
