Videos from Expo: Change Can Be Difficult
Gerard Muench, director of prehospital services at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, headquartered in Elizabeth, N.J., was not an early adopter of technology and data tracking in EMS. “The biggest barrier in me implementing these changes was myself,” said Muench, who runs the paramedic units for the city, in addition to overseeing the agency’s critical care transport service.
But thanks to a new system featuring an app that can be installed on any device and that interfaces with the ED, Muench can now track the outcomes of his STEMI, stroke, and community paramedicine programs, in addition to live vehicle tracking, 12-lead ECG reports, video transmission, medication delivery and more. Muench describes the system's implementation and its benefits during the Data & Technology Summit at EMS World Expo 2017 in Las Vegas.
