Car Crashes in Times Square, First Responders Report 1 Dead, 22 Injured

The driver, 26-year-old Richard Rojas, is suspected to have been under the influence when he sped through Times Square, running over pedestrians until he hit a pole.
EMS, fire and police crews responded quickly to the scene. An 18-year-old woman was killed when struck by the car and 22 other injured victims have been transported to local hospitals. The driver, who tried running from the scene but was stopped by bystanders and police officers stationed in Times Square, has been apprehended and is being tested for substance abuse. Officials do not believe there is any link to terrorism.
