Mich. Agency Releases Video of Ambulance Destroyed in Crash

The Twin Township Ambulance vehicle was hit broadside by a sedan, which resulted in the complete destruction of the patient compartment. The agency says it is sharing the video and photos to raise awareness about ambulance patient and EMS professional safety, and to provide the information and data to manufacturers, engineers, and lawmakers to help improve the safety of ambulance operations worldwide.

One person was injured in the crash after they ran a stop sign and hit the ambulance on June 23, 2016.

The force of the collision flipped the car on its roof and appeared to have ripped the ambulance body from the chassis, according to the Michigan State Patrol.The driver of the Twin EMS ambulance was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The ambulance was being being driven back to the New Lothrop station from a repair shop.

State Patrol officials said the driver of the car had various injured, but they were not considered life threatening.
