NIH RAMPART Study
04/02/2012
The NIH RAMPART study compared the safety and effectiveness of two methods for treating status epilepticus, a prolonged seizure that can be a life-threatening emergency. Paramedics typically treat this condition by delivering anticonvulsant drugs through an IV line. The NIH study found that an autoinjector, used to deliver these medications into thigh muscles, may provide a faster, more effective way to stop status epilepticus.
