Since its acquisition by parent company HMP Global, EMS World has resided within the company’s Public Safety Department. As we look to expand our department beyond the traditional EMS model, much like the industry itself, we have decided on a name change that includes additional prehospital and in-hospital clinicians, as well as a focus on the evolving models of care provided by traditional and nontraditional agencies at home.

For these reasons the department’s new name is the Emergency & Mobile Medicine Department. We maintain a tremendous amount of respect for our public safety partners and colleagues but believe our department and its growth are focused more heavily on the medical aspects of the profession, rather than the public safety aspects.

The Emergency & Mobile Medicine Learning Network, the online home of the department, will serve the full spectrum of emergency and mobile medicine providers on the front lines of out-of-hospital and in-hospital emergency medical care, including EMTs, paramedics, physicians, advanced-level practitioners, nurses, dispatchers, educators, researchers, administrators, and many more specialists.

The Emergency & Mobile Medicine Learning Network will keep these professionals informed and equipped to handle the challenges they face in the field through the creation and delivery of the most up-to-date, expert-guided clinical, management, and regulatory content on EMSWorld.com.

Thousands of pieces of content are available through our learning management system, podcasts, webinars, e-books and articles. We will also continue to provide cutting-edge content to readers through our monthly print publication, EMS World Magazine.

EMS World Expo, the largest annual EMS-dedicated educational event in the world, will continue to provide the educational and networking opportunities it has for our industry for more than 30 years.

For now our loyal readers will see little change other than the department’s name, a name more aligned with the medical aspects of the industry.

EMS World has been and will continue to be the source for news, education, and information for prehospital providers. But in the future we plan to expand these educational offerings in exciting ways, which will evolve over the coming months.

Thank you for being a dedicated reader of EMS World.
