Serving Those Who Served Our Country: How an MIH and VA Hospital Partnership Helps Veterans

Is your organization properly caring for those who have served our country? This presentation will demonstrate how an EMS agency can provide comprehensive care to the veteran population within their community. This course will teach attendees how to establish a targeted outreach program using GIS, customize their ePCR to identify veterans and their medical homes, refer them to MIH services, and provide tele-health home doctor visits. Attendees will also learn how screen veterans for suicidal risk using a standardized screening tool that is approved by the VA. Lessons learned can be applied not only to veterans, but also any at-risk population within a community. Attendees will be taught how to implement practices outlined in this presentation with little effort, expertise, or financial burden.
