'Six Minutes to Live' Mini-Documentary to Premiere on Prodigy EMS Webinar
CAMBRIDGE, MA—The team behind the movement Six Minutes to Live announces the exclusive premiere of their mini-documentary via a Prodigy EMS webinar on March 18, 2025 at 1 pm ET. This compelling mini-doc chronicles a 20-plus year journey that began with tragedy and evolved into a movement for resuscitation excellence across the United States.
The documentary, produced by Adam K Studio, centers on the 1999 needless death of 21-year-old Julia Rusinek in Washington, D.C., which became the focal point for USA Today journalist Bob Davis’ groundbreaking 2003 series "Six Minutes to Live or Die." The three-day newspaper series exposed alarming disparities in cardiac arrest care nationwide.
Prodigy EMS, a comprehensive EMS education and training platform committed to providing high-quality EMS education, is the founding sponsor of the Six Minutes to Live movement.
“We are honored to support the Six Minutes to Live movement and bring this powerful story to the EMS community,” said James DiClemente, president and COO of Prodigy EMS. “This documentary is more than just a film; it’s a call to action. We hope to inspire real change in cardiac arrest care across the country. Every second counts, and by learning to care, measure, and act, we can save more lives.”
After the film screening, the webinar will feature a panel discussion and Q&A with the three co-founders of the Six Minutes to Live movement: paramedic journalist Davis, Hilary Gates, a bystander at Julia's SCA who later became a paramedic, and Tom Bouthillet, a paramedic and EMS chief who helped to transform his department’s system of care after reading the series. The webinar event will conclude with concrete steps for the audience to learn how to care, measure and act to help prevent needless deaths from SCA.
