National Registry Launches Web Portal with Information on New AEMT and Paramedic Certification Examinations
(Columbus, Ohio) – The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians shared three updates with the EMS community today.
- 60-day public comment period for the Resolution on Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certification Re-Entry Requirements
- Launch of a new portal with information and timelines for the new AEMT Certification Examination and new Paramedic Certification Examination
- Reminder of the March 31, 2024 recertification deadline for EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics
The National Registry opened a 60-day public comment period for 24-Resolution-01: Resolution on Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certification Re-Entry Requirements. As part of discontinuing the ALS Psychomotor Examination, the National Registry must update its State-Licensed Entry and Re-Entry processes for the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic Certifications to remove the requirement for the ALS Psychomotor Examination. The Registry’s board recently approved the resolution, which is now available for public review and comment here: https://nremt.org/public-notices/National-Registry-Board-Meeting-%E2%80%93-March-2024,-Publ The comment period will end on May 26, 2024.
A new web portal was launched today by the National Registry with important information for the new AEMT Certification Examination and new Paramedic Certification Examination. Both new examinations launch on July 1, 2024, while the current AEMT and Paramedic Psychomotor examinations end on June 30, 2024. The portal contains candidate pathways, frequently asked questions, sample packets for new Technology Enhanced Items (TEIs), important dates, and costs for the new examinations. The portal is available from the home page of the National Registry’s website (www.nremt.org) or directly: https://nremt.org/Document/Get-Ready-For-The-New-Examinations#ImportantTimelinesAndInformation
Finally, the National Registry reminds those Nationally Registered EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics with an expiration date of March 31, 2024, that the recertification deadline is only a few days away. The National Registry is expecting a large number of clinicians to recertify at the deadline and is therefore encouraging everyone to submit their recertification applications as soon as possible.
