NAEMT to Conduct 'Political Academy' at Pinnacle
PRESS RELEASE
The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) is pleased to announce the launch of its new NAEMT Political Academy. The inaugural 8-hour seminar will take place on July 29 in conjunction with the 2022 Pinnacle EMS Conference at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort in Marco Island, Florida.
Spend a day with our expert faculty to learn how to run for elected office in your local jurisdiction or state legislature. In this highly engaging seminar, you’ll hear from experienced political operatives and politicians who are also EMS providers about their path to political success and how you can prepare for that journey. Topics will include:
- Developing a strategy: What’s your long-term goal? Do you eventually see yourself on the national stage? What local elected positions might be competitive and lead to additional steps up the ladder?
- Taking a stand: Why you should become a leader among leaders; developing the key elements of your platform; understanding your choices (and challenges) around party affiliation; the nuances of polling.
- Show me the money: How to fundraise; understanding campaign finance law; using the internet to build support (and raise money); the art of “the ask.”
- Running a campaign: A roadmap and understanding the everyday mechanics of running a campaign; how to use opposition research; marketing strategy and tactics; how to use PR for free media coverage; developing a slogan; understanding the all-important “ground game.”
The registration fee includes lunch and a capstone “meet and greet” reception where “candidate” Ed Racht, MD, will try to enlist your support and “funding.”
Having elected officials who understand the challenges faced by our profession is instrumental to making the changes we need for sustainability. The best way to do this is to have those officials come from within EMS. Register at https://pinnacle-ems.com/registration/.
