Ohio Teen Arrested for Impersonating a Firefighter

Dayton Daily News, Ohio

Apr. 17—An 18-year-old West Mansfield teen was arrested for allegedly impersonating a firefighter in Marysville, according to our partners at WBNS.

Tony L. Beverly reportedly showed up to several EMS calls acting as a member of the Marysville Fire Department, which the Union County Sheriff's Office were notified of after receiving a complaint, a release said.

Beverly's most recent impersonation occurred after the Marysville Fire Department responded to the 11000 block of U.S. 36 on an EMS call.

He was found inside the home with the patient and identified himself as a volunteer firefighter. Beverly, who allegedly lied to Marysvile Fire personnel about his name and department affiliation, was reported to be wearing firefighter bunker pants and had a fire department radio pager with him.

The suspect also claimed he was a volunteer firefighter with the Bokes Creek Fire Department in Logan County, but was found to have been terminated from that department in 2016.

Beverly was located the day after the impersonation and arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Logan County Sheriff's Office for breaking and entering. He was in possession of the firefighter turnout gear, allegedly stolen during a Logan County break-in.

He is charged with impersonating a firefighter and misconduct at an emergency, both misdemeanors.
