Patient Killed, Two EMTs Injured in Calif. Ambulance Crash

July 12--One man was killed and three other people injured Saturday following a crash involving a private ambulance and a Jaguar sedan in Pasadena, authorities said.

The two vehicles collided around 4 p.m. in the 1000 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, just south of Hammond Street, said Pasadena police Lt. Jesse Carrillo. At the time of the accident, the ambulance had been transporting a man in his 70s for "what appeared to be a non-life-threatening medical appointment," he said.

The man was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Carrillo said.

The EMTs were taken to local hospitals in stable condition. The driver of the sedan, identified as a woman in her 60s, was taken to a hospital and may have sustained a fractured foot, Carrillo said.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
