Priority Ambulance Announces Intent to Purchase Medshore Ambulance
Priority Ambulance, a national company headquartered in East Tennessee, announced today its intention to acquire Medshore Ambulance Service, which provides emergency and nonemergency medical transport services to more than 100,000 patients in South Carolina each year.
“Medshore is a great company with respected, experienced leadership and an outstanding industry reputation for medical excellence and patient care,” Priority Ambulance CEO Bryan Gibson said. “The company will be an excellent addition to our operations in the Southeast, and we look forward to completing this process to create a strong, united team.”
Medshore Ambulance is the largest privately owned ambulance service in South Carolina and has provided medical transport services to the Palmetto State for more than 40 years. The company currently operates in 17 counties with more than 520 employees. Medshore was the first ambulance service provider in the state to achieve accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), the industry’s gold standard of operational excellence.
Medshore CEO and founder Greg Shore and his leadership team will continue to provide local management, and the company will still operate under the Medshore name.
“This partnership will provide Medshore Ambulance Service with the necessary resources to grow our company, while maintaining and enhancing our current operations,” Shore said. “We are excited to join this national network and benefit from the expertise of its national and regional leadership and have expanded resources to continue to provide the highest caliber of service to residents in South Carolina.”
Priority Ambulance anticipates the transaction will be complete in early 2017.
Priority Ambulance is rapidly expanding its footprint across the country. In October, Priority Ambulance started up a local operation in Maricopa County, Arizona, operating as Maricopa Ambulance. Priority Ambulance’s upcoming expansion into South Carolina will increase the network to eight states and more than 275,000 transports each year.
